Karnataka
Karnataka, called as Karunadu (elevated land) in earliest
times. The course of Karnataka's history and culture takes us back

in India was a hand axe at Lingasugur in Raichur district. The
Ashoka's rock edicts found in the state indicate that major parts

Bangalore

Belur
Belur
is a well-known temple town in Karnataka, situated in
Hassan district. Belur is especially renowned for the grand
Hoysala Temple Complex. Belur is 222 Kms from Bangalore,
34 Kms from Hassan and 149 Kms from Mysore. This place is famous
for its exquisite temples. Belur is known as Dakshina Varanasi
or South Banaras for its temples. The serenity of Belur is
accredited to the celebrated temple of Channakeshava, built by
the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana in 117 A. D. to commemorate his
conversion from Jainism to Vaishnavism.

Mysore
Mysore,
the city of palaces, is a popular travel destination in South
India. Also called Mysooroo, the city was earlier the capital of

Hampi
Hampi is both a historic &
religious place in India. This was the capital of the
Hindu empire, Vijayanagara, who ruled the south India during
14th to 16th century AD. The ruins of Hampi, as it is known
today, is a vast open museum of history, architecture and
religion.
Spread over an area more than 25 square
kilometers (10 square miles), Hampi ruins is packed
with giant temples, palaces, market streets, aquatic
structures, fortifications and an profusion of other ancient
monuments. This was also the period of greatest architectural
activity, as both these rulers commissioned several buildings
in the royal capital and in other parts of their vast empire.

Bandipur National Park
Bandipur National Park
is a beautiful forest reserve situated in the southern Indian
state of Karnataka. This national park occupies a special place
in India’s efforts towards natural conservation. It was created
in the 1930s from the local Maharaja Voodiyar’s hunting lands,
and named Venugopal Wildlife Park. Bandipur National Park
was expanded later in 1941 to adjoin the Nagarhole National
Park, which lay towards its northern edge, and Wynad and
Madumulai Sanctuaries, which lay towards its southern edge in
the states of Kerala and Tamilnadu, respectively.
In 1974, the Bandipur was declared a National Park under the
Wildlife Protection Act. The Bandipur National Park is
one of its own kind in Asia as it has huge elephant herds.
